5 out of 5 stars A classic!   June 8, 2010

'Escape' was always going to be a hard act to follow. 'Frontiers' is possibly the most underrated of Journey's entire output and deservedly sold by the bucketload especially in the States. As a previous reviewer has already noted, the videos that accompanied the songs sometimes left something to be desired. However Journey were always about the music.

'Separate Ways (Worlds apart)' is a great way to kick off proceedings. 'Back talk' is the only filler track on here. Whilst I love the singles from this album: 'Separate ways', 'Send her my love' and 'Faithfully', there are some hidden gems here. 'After the fall' and 'Edge of the blade' are excellent songs delivered with Journey's usual high level of performance.

'Frontiers' is a classic that didn't get the credit it deserved. A worthy addition to any collection. AOR at its best

5 out of 5 stars Brother's Choice   April 24, 2010

I got this for my brother's collection and he was very happy with the speed of the delivery and the quality of the product and said he would definitely use the supplier again

5 out of 5 stars A very nice album, with some very nice tracks on it again. Favourite track "Seperate Ways", which is really a killer song.   April 19, 2010

Another goody from this famous American band. The next release after "Escape", Frontiers from 1983 is also an important AOR album from the early to mid '80's music. Not far from the predecessor musically speaking, this album offers some great tracks like my all time favourite Journey song, "Separate Ways", as well as, "Chain Reaction", "Troubled Child" and "Rubicon". Still every musicians is on the barricades, delivering some very intriguing solos and riffs on guitar made by the excellent guitarist Neal Schon. Something to mention is, the keyboards are more in front than on previous album, not only as background instrument. All in all another good album by Journey, just as good as the predecessor and probably their most enjoyable too. The band kept their winning streak alive, but after this album, Steve Perry got the "I'm the Band" syndrome and this line-up imploded. The next Journey album was basically a Steve Perry solo album.

This 2006/7 re-issue of the classic Journey album contains a booklet and 4 bonus tracks. 'Only The Young' and 'Ask The Lonely' were originally intended for the Frontiers album, as was 'Liberty' I think, so it's good to hear them on it!

For true fans and collectors: The Tron soundtrack number 'Only Solutions' is also included. Interestingly enough, I have at least 3 versions of this song. This version is not the extended one, but it appears to be a re-mixed version that actually leaves out some of Neal's guitar work, particularly at the end! Strange...but interesting!

The album itself sounds virtually identical to the 1996 re-master, but there seems to be a difference in the bonus tracks. This is a worthwhile addition to any Journey collection, though.
