5 out of 5 stars A classic   September 9, 2010
I. Tomlinson (Thamesmead London)
I only discovered 30 seconds to mars a few weeks ago after listening to my son's copies the first two albums are good but no comparison to This Is War.
This is a masterpiece and deserves to be up there with the best of them, a true classic I can't stop listening to it.

2 out of 5 stars Why have they changed so much? :(   August 30, 2010

I have to be honest, despite the 3 year wait or however long it was; I was disappointed by this. Their second album, A Beautiful Lie, was the first 'alternative' album I listened to and I was soon sucked into the genre of music, yet never finding other artists that were as good as them. However, I just feel like this album, despite having one or two reasonable tracks, just does not fit what the band used to be. It's too electronic and mainstreamy, I didn't even realise it was them when I first heard them on the radio with 'Closer To The Edge'. And the thing that ruined it the most was probably the whole crowd effect thing, I know they must have put alot of effort in to record that, but still, it kind of made me cringe in places... I know I should just accept it and move on but I can't, I was expecting something really brilliant and this isn't. I really hope this isn't them shying away from their 'emo' status, because they were so much more than that. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because I used to be a huge fan of them and I could understand every lyric, I hope they don't forget who they used to be.

5 out of 5 stars My favourite!   August 27, 2010

I didn't particularly like 30 Seconds to Mars - I found their music loud with unnecessary shouting. My opinion of them changed however when I heard Kings and Queens whilst flicking through the music channels. The song quickly became one of my fave's and made me appreciate their earlier work such as The Kill and Attack. After buying this album and A Beautiful Lie I can honestly say they are now my favourite band which is strange because I wasn't really into this genre of music before. This Is War was described as sounding like a movie and I think this is a perfect description, it's atmospheric and really gets you into a good mood. Jared Leto is an amazing singer and the sound is something I've never heard before. Anyway, I now totally adore them and am going to see them perform in Birmingham in December which will be totally amazing I'm sure :D Hope this helped! xx

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant anthemic rock from LA's quartet   August 26, 2010
Ms. S. Binney (Skaro)
This album is definitely a must on the iPods and music libraries of every rock fan out there. Tracks like "This is War" and "Kings and Queens" are catchy and exhilerating to listen to, and others like "Vox Populi" are very atmospheric and put you in the mood. Five stars, without a doubt.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!   July 24, 2010

I didn't think they could get any better than a Beautiful Lie,but this album is incredible. 30 Secnds to Mars are by far my favorite band, they are just insane. I can't believe that every single song on the album is such a high standard, they are all such great songs.
