3 out of 5 stars Saving the best for last ?!   June 8, 2010
M. Winter (England)
Unfortunately it's clear why this album has not made it onto the shelves before..... There's a lot better out there - unless you're a Hendrix completist this really isn't the best choice - I suggest Electric Ladyland.

2 out of 5 stars Okay but..   May 20, 2010

This is okay music but is is only really of any worth to thosewho want to study Hendix in an academic way. These are sub-standard (comapred to the real Hendrix album tracks) by any standard. All the unreleased recordings were picked over in the immediate aftermath of his death and the best bits released: Cry of Love, Rainboe Bridge and War Heroes. The Hendrix family took a hold of things some years back and and we got a these posthumous recordings rationalised with First Rays Of The New Rising Sun then the slightly less satisfactory South Saturn Delta. If the recordings on this CD (I use CD rather than album because I grew up in the post-Sgt Pepper era when an album became a considered body of work rather than a bunch of songs slung together which this CD is) have not been released before in the 40 years (come September 18th)then you have to ask yourself: "Why?" And the answer can only be because they are not really that good. I have heard enough to know that this is the case. The alternate versions of Red House etc, are just not as good as those that I already have.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Jimi Hendrix   April 25, 2010

This album is really not very good. Red house is the only stand out track. Pretty poor stuff really and not what I would I expect from Jimi if he was alive. Buy to complete your jimi Hendrix collection, but avoid if you are not a die hard Hendrix fan.

5 out of 5 stars Hendrix lives   April 21, 2010

Did Elvis die?? Yes!! Did Jimi die?? No, Jimi still lives - at least on this CD - The best Jimi Hendrix CD in years! It's Cry for Love and it's Band of Gypsies and it's fantastic.
