4 out of 5 stars A CHARMING ALBUM   September 8, 2010
J. MCCARRAHER (South Coast)
This is an album with little to dislike about it. Each song is given an orchestral re-interpretation, breathing new life into a substantial back catalogue. Whilst this type of project can yield varying results, in this case it happens to work nicely, complemented by Sting's familiar vocals. 'An Englishman in New York' is particularly charming. Recommended for all the right reasons...it is a good listen!

5 out of 5 stars Can this man do no wrong?   September 4, 2010

When I first heard the concept behind this album I was a bit worried. I'm a huge Sting fan and wasn't sure that his style of music would suit the philharmonic treatment. I was wrong! This is fast becoming one of my all time favourite Sting albums. The tracks are re-worked to provide a new listening experience, but are also close enough to the orginals so I can sing along! Sting's more mature voice also brings a new quality to the songs and hints at a vulnerability which may not have been present during the orginal recordings. Particularly in tracks such as 'The Pirate's Bride'. This is a necessary purchase for any Sting fan.

From the advert on TV showcasing Sting's new CD, I couldn't wait to order this CD. There are a few good tracks but I think he's trying to be too clever and I was disappointed - only played it a couple of times.
