4 out of 5 stars pretty good mixture of stuff   September 6, 2010

C.Ds are pretty good, balance of fast and slow, old and new songs.
Some classic nostalgia tunes from yester-year also.
Agree with earlier posts that oasis should've been included.
Compilations could flow a bit better in some instances.
Pretty good value for all those tracks though...

5 out of 5 stars Epic Album   August 24, 2010

This is great CD for the car, when you don't want just one album but to listen mix of some of the best tunes ever. There are some great ones to sing along too and only a couple to skip. All in all a good buy.

3 out of 5 stars Classic songs, shame about some poor tracks   August 22, 2010

Great songs mixed together in a confusing way. Lilly Allen epic. That is a total joke. Her song and a few other poor tracks that are clearly not epic take the two stars away.

2 out of 5 stars A Little Bit Random   August 16, 2010

This compilation confuses me lots. I'm assuming that each song on this compilation is supposed to be 'epic' in some way but I can't work out what the criteria are. Someone in the music industry has a very different idea of 'epic' to me.

There are some fundamentally bizarre choices on here. When did 'This Ain't A Love Song' by Scouting For Girls become an epic song? To my mind it's a fairly generic pop song that no one will remember in ten years time. Whose definition of epic involves songs that could also be described as bland? And besides, this song was only released in March, which raises other questions. I'd be reluctant to label any song as 'epic' unless it had stood the test of time. This song isn't epic, it's just currently popular. Other baffling inclusions here include 'Not Fair' by Lily Allen. Now, I quite like this song and I've got the album, but I would hesitate to call it epic and if you had to pick a Lily Allen song that was `epic' I'd suggest maybe `The Fear' might be a better fit.

Don't get me wrong. There are some really good songs on here and I can understand some of them being included in this compilation. After all pretty much any Muse song you can think of could be labelled epic, although again I maybe wouldn't have picked 'Uprising' as the most obvious choice. And The Killers 'Mr Brightside' is a no brainer for an epic compilation. 'Phat Planet', 'Insomnia' and 'Born Slippy' also make sense. But 'Breakeven' by The Script, 'Santa Cruz' by The Thrills, 'Side' by Travis? Like I said, this compilation confuses me lots. And it's also pretty limited in its idea of epic, generally choosing from only the most mainstream songs.

Having said that, if you like the look of the tracklisting and don't already have the bands' albums then it's certainly value for money. But I think a lot of people who see this album and like the idea of an 'epic' compilation will be disappointed in the songs on offer. It strikes me as false advertising for what appears to be a fairly random collection of songs. If this compilation were called something else then I wouldn't take issue. But they chose to call this album 'Epic' and I've yet to meet the person whose idea of a truly epic song is 'Jenny Don't Be Hasty' by Paolo Nutini.

agree with all 5* reveiws this is an excellent compilation of songs/artists i like but wouldn't neccesarily buy an album of. much cheaper/easier than seraching each one out individually nicely packaged for ease of use ;)
